Fiat 500 and Panda get UV light and an air purifierMay 5, 2020
Tuning studio Mopar has developed a special package for the fight against bacteria.
Mopar is probably best known for its high-performance special editions and accessories for the Jeep Wrangler, but the current time requires a different look.
The day before in Italy, the D-Fence package for 500 and Panda hybrids was introduced, capable of destroying up to 99% of bacteria. To do this, the package includes a high-performance cabin air filter that forms the “border” between the inside and the outside of the car.
Atelier officials said the filter prevents allergens and particulate matter from entering the cabin. To clean the air that is already inside the car, the kit includes an air purifier with a HEPA filter. This allows it to retain “microparticles,” such as pollen and bacteria. As an added bonus, the air purifier can be removed and placed inside to clean the air in your home when you are not driving.
And last but not least, the kit includes ultraviolet light, which promises to destroy up to 99% of bacteria on the surface. Mopar encourages people to use ultraviolet light to disinfect surfaces such as the steering wheel, seats and gear selector.
Although the package probably won’t protect you from the coronavirus, Fiat President Olivier Francois said: “Now the car, even more than before, will be mindful of the well-being of those who use it.” He described vehicles as an “even more protagonist” in the future of urban mobility.
