Ferrari will develop an electric supercarJanuary 18, 2018
The company Ferrari plans to develop a supercar with a fully electric power plant, which will be able to compete with Tesla cars. The head of the Italian brand Sergio Marchionne told Bloomberg.
“We will create such a car, because we have to release it,” said Marcion. According to the top manager, in the first half of 2018 Ferrari will publish a new business plan, which includes the emergence of hybrid models. At the same time, Marchionne noted that “the transition from hybrids to fully electric cars is quite simple.” The head of Ferrari also noted that the electric car will be the first car in its class.
Ferrari already has experience in creating serial cars with combined power units. So, in 2013, the Italians released the flagship supercar LaFerrari. It is equipped with a 963-strong hybrid unit, the composition of which included a 6.3-liter V12 engine, an electric unit, a set of lithium-ion batteries and a seven-stage “robot” with two clutches. Ferrari LaFerrari can accelerate to 100 km / h in three seconds, and its maximum speed is limited to 350 km per hour.
The future Ferrari electric car will compete with the serial version of the Tesla Roadster, a prototype of which was introduced in the fall of 2017. Serial production of the two-door must begin in 2020, and its cost will be about $ 200,000. The Tesla Roadster has three electric motors, thanks to which the acceleration to 60 miles per hour (96 km / h) takes only 1.9 seconds. The maximum speed of an electric car is 400 km per hour.
Earlier, Sergio Marchionne confirmed the information that Ferrari is developing the crossover. According to the top manager, the novelty, which should appear in 2019, will be the fastest car in its class.
