Ferrari thinks over the resurrection of the coupe 250 GTOMarch 11, 2018
Several years ago, Jaguar introduced a modern version of the old-school roadster E-Type, however, as a concept car. Last year, at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the company brought its electrified version. Ferrari could not leave the presentation of such concept cars without attention, and now also reflects on the resurrection of one of its legendary models.
According to portal Motor1, the Italian company is seriously considering the possibility of “reincarnation” of its legendary 250 GTO coupe, which during the car dealership in Geneva was told by the head of the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles concern Sergio Marchionne.
According to him, Jaguar coped well with the project E-Type, and although Ferrari is not going to live past successes, but in future years the company will introduce something in the spirit of classic brand cars.
Jaguar sold six copies of the resurrected model E-Type, and then produced nine copies of the roadster XKSS, each of which cost the buyers $ 1.5 million. A month ago it became known that in the near future Jaguar will produce 25 copies of D-Type roadsters, which means that such small-scale projects bring profit to the company.
Aston Martin also does not stand aside: just over a year ago the company announced that it will produce 25 copies of the DB4 GT coupe.
The Ferrari 250 GTO is a Gran Turismo class car, which was manufactured from 1962 to 1964 for racing in the FIA category GT3. The car weighed less than 900 kilograms, although under its hood was a three-liter three-liter V12 engine, which developed about 300 horsepower.
Apparently, Ferrari can in the future go in the footsteps of Jaguar and Aston Martin, especially since the fans of the Italian brand abound.
