Ferrari patented innovative technology for the new V12 engineOctober 26, 2019
Ferrari Corporation is preparing a new powerful V12 engine that will meet the new environmental standards. The Italian corporation has patented a new development, which should contribute to the production of a new power unit.
In the information base of the Patent Office of America, new sketches and a description of the innovative fuel-air mixture injection system have appeared. A feature of the new development is that before turning on the spark plug, little fuel is injected.
Thanks to this scheme of operation, the combustion chamber is better blown and the temperature of the fuel-air mixture rises. Using a similar injection algorithm, the developers were able to reduce the engine warm-up time, resulting in reduced toxicity.
In addition, specialists of the Italian brand installed an additional one over the center of the main chamber, which is decorated with a special partition. At present, it is not known how an additional preliminary combustion chamber with its candle will reduce the level of carbon dioxide emissions.
It is worth mentioning that now the most productive Ferrari mass power plant is an atmospheric 6.5-liter engine with a capacity of 800 horsepower. This engine is equipped with a Ferrari 812 Superfast.
In addition, it was previously noted that Ferrari is testing an updated Portofino coupe convertible. The novelty can be shown on November 13 as part of a special event in Rome.
