Fernando Alonso: I hope I helped the team and PirelliApril 4, 2019
On the second day of testing in Bahrain, three drivers worked for McLaren – Lando Norris, Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso. Alonso was engaged only in the Pirelli program, whereas Sainz worked with Italian tire makers in the morning, and during the day he changed Lando Norris behind the wheel of the main machine.
Carlos Sainz (4th): “Today there was no rain in the desert, and we spent a normal day of testing. In the morning I completed the program to work with Pirelli tires. In the afternoon, at the last hour of the session, I switched to the McLaren test program and drove around circles that I could not drive yesterday because of the rain.
In general, I can say that the tests were productive and positive for us. We have collected useful information that we analyze on the base. There are several days ahead to recharge the batteries – next week we will return to the Chinese Grand Prix. “
Fernando Alonso (11th): “It was a positive return for driving in the last two days of tests. I hope I helped the team and Pirelli with the development of their tires, driving almost 70 laps in each of the days.
It is always nice to be driving a Formula 1 and understand how the car and tires have evolved. Everything went well and I am pleased. ”
Lando Norris (13th): “In general, the positive tests for the team – Carlos, Fernando and I collected a lot of information. Today was a constructive day, I completed the planned program and drove a lot of laps. I hope we can properly use the information obtained in the last two days to maximize our speed in the upcoming races “.
Gilles de Ferrand, sports director: “Pretty productive day. This time we did everything we planned without any major problems. Today we have a total of 222 laps, which speaks for itself.
I hope everything that we have learned over the past two days will allow us to move forward. In general, our trip to Bahrain was very good. Go to China.
