FCA recalls millions of cars: the reason is calledMay 26, 2018
Concern Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has decided to initiate a service campaign for more than a dozen models, which may show problems with cruise control.
In a published press release, FCA reports that the service campaign will lead to a recall of 4.8 million cars produced in the last few years. All of them may experience a short circuit in the on-board electronics, which will result in the car moving in cruise control mode not responding to the depressing of the brake pedal or disabling the cruise control, which could lead to an emergency situation.
However, the company warns drivers that the brakes of all recalled cars are strong enough to overcome the “hung” in the cruise control engine and stop at the roadside, and cruise control can be turned off by transferring the transmission to the “neutral” mode.
Under the review are cars brands Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, as well as pick-up Ram. The full list of models looks like this:
2015-17 Chrysler 200
2014-18 Chrysler 300
2017-18 Chrysler Pacifica

For the first time this defect manifested itself this month, when the driver of the rented crossover Dodge Journey in 2017 of release could not turn off the cruise control at a speed of 70 miles per hour (about 112 kilometers per hour), while he was frightened by the fact that the janitors and all the control lamps on the dashboard caught fire. Nevertheless, the driver of the defective car was able to cope with this situation, but, according to him, after stopping from the brake mechanisms, there was a strong smoke.
The US National Traffic Safety Administration on the tracks issued a message stating that owners of defective vehicles should refrain from using cruise control.
The start of the service campaign is planned for the next month.
