FAW starts selling Mazda 6 “killer” in ChinaMay 2, 2019
The Chinese auto giant has brought to the home market its updated premium sedan Hongqi H5, which is called the converted version of the 2018 Japanese model Mazda6.
Hongqi H5 exceeds the “donor” model in size, but the technical content of these two cars is the same. Thus, the engine line of the Chinese premium-class sedan consists of a 158-horsepower two-liter engine from Mazda, as well as two 1.8-turbo engines and two liters with a power of 188 and 204 hp. All-wheel drive models are not allowed. The available transmissions are a six-speed “mechanics” or hydromechanical automatic gearbox with the same number of stages.
Already in the base Hongqi H5 immediately receives seven airbags, adaptive cruise control and a number of electronic assistants. Among them are lane control systems and collision avoidance systems.
The top versions of the sedan are equipped with cameras of a circular video review, as well as a glass roof with a hatch. When finishing the restyled Hongqi H5, the manufacturer applied natural leather and real wood. the minimum price tag for a novelty was established at around 146,800 yuan. For comparison, the new Mazda 6 costs Chinese motorists 8,000 yuan more expensive. Such a difference in prices and a rich set of options allowed autoexperts to call the new FAW “killer” Mazda 6.
