FAW introduced electrocross E115 and hybrid supercar S9September 11, 2019
FAW-owned Hongqi brings new concepts to the Frankfurt Motor Show. Both models should soon be put into mass production.
Under the brand name Hongqi Since 1958, China has been producing limos for the elite. Since the 90s, the company began to produce automobiles for middle-level diplomats. In 2013, the first civilian model appeared – the H7 sedan. This year, Hongqi introduced three crossovers – HS5, HS7 and electric car E-HS3. FAW, which has recently acquired the brand, is seriously considering entering the European market.
True, at the Frankfurt Motor Show, even approximate dates for the start of sales in Europe were not announced. But they introduced two Hongqi concepts – the E115 electrocross and the S9 hybrid supercar.
The hybrid has butterfly wing doors that have become traditional in the mid-engined coupe genre. Under the hood is a 4.0-liter V8 gasoline engine. There is no information about the power of the motor and electric motor. However, they announced a total power of 1,400 horsepower. According to manufacturers, from 0 to 100 km / h the supercar accelerates in 1.9 seconds, and its maximum speed is more than 400 km / h.
Another concept – this electric crossover Hongqi E115 should also become a production model. The car is built on the latest platform. The company kept silent about the power plant. However, the crossover is equipped with a four-wheel drive system and a choice of driving modes (there are seven of them). Without additional recharging, the electric car travels up to 600 km. Hongqi E115 is equipped with a fourth-level autopilot.
Giles Taylor, a former Rolls-Royce chief designer, is responsible for the design of these concepts.
