Volkswagen’s latest and most powerful Volkswagen hot hatch is called the Golf GTI TCR. He was presented earlier this month at an international event in Portugal. It was in this country that a video was shot, showing what a high-performance car is capable of when accelerating in a straight line.

Under the hood of this powerful 5-door hatchback is a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder TSI engine that produces 286 horsepower. It is paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission with double clutch and comes standard with a limited slip differential.

This configuration allows the Golf to accelerate from zero to 100 km / h in just 5.6 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km / h as standard, but Volkswagen will be happy to sell you an option that raises this figure to 260 km / h.

The published video captures the acceleration of the hatchback from the spot, both with the launch control (electronic system necessary to ensure the fastest possible start) and without it. It turns out that the powerful Golf for 0.1 seconds goes to the first hundred faster with the disabled control-off. It seems that the system is not really necessary when only the front wheels are driven.

One thing we also noticed in this video is the pleasant exhaust sound of a car, despite the fact that it is equipped with a diesel particulate filter, which is now an essential component of exhaust filtration on new gasoline-powered cars in Europe.

The new Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR has a starting price in Germany of 38,950 euros
