Extended liftback Audi A7 Sportback for China will become a sedanSeptember 7, 2020
On the CarNewsChina Facebook page, an image of the body of the Audi A7L, an elongated version of the A7, which is being prepared for the appearance in China, has appeared. The model will get a completely new body for it.
The base Audi A7 is produced in a 5-door liftback body and for this reason is called the Sportback. A spy shot of the body of the new car for China shows that the elongated version of the Audi A7 will appear on the market as a standard 3-volume, that is, instead of the liftback, it will become the base sedan.
What platform will form the basis of the Audi A7L is still unknown. The agency suggests that the base for the novelty, which is being created at the SAIC-Volkswagen joint venture (JV), is the local Volkswagen Phideon model. This 5050mm sedan tops Volkswagen’s lineup in China.
VW Phideon is built on the architecture of the Audi A6L sedan. The differences between the Audi A7L and Audi A6L are currently not named. According to the portal, the new model of the joint venture will go on sale in about a year.
In addition, it was recently noted that the compact crossover Audi Q2 was modernized. It should be emphasized that this model of the German company is not represented on the Russian market. In Europe, the novelty will appear this month at an initial cost of 25,000 euros.
