Experts ranked the safest crossovers in 2018February 7, 2019
We have repeatedly written that safety is one of the most important factors in the choice of modern cars. Therefore, experts did not take long to present themselves and presented a rating of the best crossovers on this indicator.
Specialists from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for High Traffic Safety (IIHS) regularly test new automotive products and identify the best in their class. At this time we can see the list of the safest crossovers last year.
And it seems to us that no one will be surprised by the leader of the list – the Volvo XC90. The car is really safe and deserves the maximum rating for all checks. The goal of the company is to achieve zero mortality in traffic accidents. The second was the representative of the German automotive industry – Mercedes-Benz GLE. As befits all modern cars, it has a lot of active and passive safety systems with assistants and automatic systems. The three leaders are locked in by the Lexus RX, equipped with the latest version of Toyota Safety 2.0’s proprietary safety suite, including automatic braking systems, hazard warnings, and more.
In the fourth and fifth place were Audi Q7 and Acura MDX models. Both models are as safe as the leaders of the list, but in some tests proved slightly less effective. But given the “artificiality” of tests, in real conditions the difference may be insignificant. Of course, they are also “stuffed” with electronics.
