Exclusive Lamborghini Zagato Raptor will be auctionedNovember 15, 2019
An exclusive Lamborghini Zagato Raptor sports car will be sold at an auction in Abu Dhabi on November 30.
In 1996, the lineup of the Italian brand was very scarce and before it was bought by the Volkswagen Group, it sold only Diablo.
At the same time, at the Geneva Motor Show in 1996, the Zagato Raptor prototype was presented. The car had a chassis from Diablo VT. The car was positioned as an intermediate between the Diablo and Canto models.
Alas, neither Zagato Raptor nor Canto ended up in the “series”, as the German automaker had slightly different plans for the successor to Diablo. Now, a one-of-a-kind Zagato Raptor prototype will have the opportunity to buy. According to experts, the car will be able to sell for 1,000,000 – 1,400,000 dollars.
This model was one of the debut cars that were built in digital format, which made it possible not to develop large-scale models. As noted, the production of the prototype took about 4 months.
Nori Harada took an active part in developing the design of the machine, giving Raptor a unique exterior. The car stood out because it had no doors, since it was possible to get into the cabin by folding the front of the body.
The model was driven by a 5.7-liter V12 engine with a capacity of 485 hp. Together with the engine, a 6-speed manual transmission and four-wheel drive system functioned. The developer managed to reduce the mass of the car due to the fact that the tubular chassis, carbon fiber body, magnesium wheels were used, and there were no fixed doors.
The car could accelerate to the first 100 kph in less than 4 seconds and accelerate to a maximum of 322 km / h.
