European version of Audi S5 got diesel V6April 17, 2019
Audi S5 Coupe and S5 Sportback TDI diesel engine will go on sale in Europe next month, and prices in Germany will start at 65,300 euros
Not so long ago, the German company Audi announced that the European versions of the “charged” models S6 and S7 will be available with a powerful diesel engine. Now the information has appeared, according to which, sales of high-performance S5 with the same engine will soon start. The diesel power unit will be available for the Coupe and Sportback models, and nothing is said about the convertible in the published press release.
This is a 3.0-liter TDI V6 engine, which is also available for the SQ5 “charged” crossover. The maximum power of this motor is 347 horsepower (700 Nm).
The diesel engine is equipped with an electric compressor (EPC) and hybrid technology combined with a 48-volt electrical system. The energy needed to power the system comes from a 0.5 kW lithium-ion battery installed under the boot, and a soft hybrid system helps the car reduce fuel consumption by 0.4 liters per 100 km. Speaking of fuel economy, according to representatives of the brand, the cars consume only 6.2 liters per 100 km.
The dynamic characteristics of the car are as follows – acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h is 4.8 seconds in the case of the S5 Coupe, while in the S5 Sportback this figure is 0.1 seconds more, due to the greater weight. The maximum speed of both cars is electronically limited to 250 km / h.
