The French brand has published the fifth generation Clio hatchback video teaser. It is expected that the official premiere of new items will be held next week

In the short video, Renault only opened the design of the fifth Clio: we see a new grille, steering wheel, seats and, apparently, part of the front panel with a geometric pattern. At the end of the video date appears – January 28th. It is probably on this day that the model will be presented. No other details at Renault have yet been reported.

Meanwhile, a few days ago, the network posted a photo of the toy model of the new Clio. If the fifth generation hatch was really taken as a basis, then there were no fundamental changes in the appearance of the car: the most noticeable difference from the previous compact is the headlights in the style of the current Renault Megane, Talisman and Koleos.

The reluctance of the brand to change the exterior of the hatchback much is understandable, because the current Clio is not only Renault’s bestseller in Europe (according to focus2move, about 365,500 cars were sold in 2018), but also ranked second in the overall rating of the most popular old-world cars “Of the market (in the first place – Volkswagen Golf, sold approximately 502,700 copies). Apparently, the company simply does not want to scare off buyers. But to the interior of the fourth Clio from the customers were complaints, so Renault and decided to focus on the “inner world”.

According to preliminary data, the model of the new generation is built on the CMF-B platform of the Renault-Nissan alliance (the predecessor is based on the platform B). It is possible that the Clio has grown a bit. The length of the former Hatch is 4062 mm, wheelbase – 2589 mm. In the line of engines of the fifth Clio can enter the new gasoline “turbo” 1.3 TCe (140 hp), developed by Renault in conjunction with the concern Daimler. In addition, the range will be diesel and a hybrid version, but the fully electric version for the model is not provided – on the approach of the “green” compact Zoe next generation and Renault, most likely, want to avoid internal cannibalism.

The current Renault Clio in France, for example, is available with a 3-cylinde petrol engine 0.9 TCe (75 or 90 hp) and 1.5 dCi turbo diesel (75 or 90 hp). At home brand price hatch starts with a mark of 15 300 euros. Also, the fourth-generation Clio has a version with a “universal” body – the “shed” is supposed to remain in service, but it is not known whether it will be shown along with the hatchback on January 28 or if it debuts later.

Recall that one of the main competitors of Clio will also replace the generation this year – the premiere of the new Peugeot 208 will take place soon.
