Euro NCAP introduced the safest cars in 2018December 13, 2018
Following the crash test, the European Independent Organization chose the best cars in four categories. Among the safest cars were: Lexus ES, Mercedes-Benz A-Class, and Hyundai Nexo.
One of the most famous independent organizations, the security audit of modern cars Euro NCAP has published its own rating of the safest cars. The rating was formed based on the results of crash tests of many cars. And the best cars were named in different categories, so the cars are not located in places.
Thus, the Lexus ES sedan of the new generation turned out to be the safest family car. The model received a well-deserved five stars of security. The driver and passengers are protected from injuries by 91%, children by 87%, pedestrians by 90%, and automatic safety systems work by 77%. But not without minor drawbacks. The greatest chance of serious injury to the rear passengers in a frontal collision.
In the category “Small family car” won the Mercedes-Benz A-Class hatchback. The car became the most technologically advanced in its class, and passed all the tests perfectly. According to the test results, the hatchback ensures the safety of the driver and adult passengers of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class was estimated at 96%, children at 91%, pedestrians and cyclists at 92% and electronic systems at 75%.
Hyundai Nexo has become the safest full-size crossover. Experts conducted a series of tests and found that the cross received 94% for driver and adult safety, 87% for children, 67% for pedestrians and cyclists, and the efficiency of electronic assistants was estimated at 80%. However, there is a risk of leg injuries in a frontal collision.
In the meantime, Euro NCAP conducted a series of tests of modern cars, which gave unexpected results on new requirements. So, Fiat Panda received the lowest ball, and Jeep Wrangler received only one star.
