Tesla Model S will try to show the best time of the “Northern loop” among four-door electric cars and break the Porsche Taycan record
Tesla Motors is actively preparing the Model S electric car for the Nurburgring North Loop record. The head of the American automaker Ilon Musk wrote about this on his twitter.
“The Tesla Model S is already at the Nurburgring. However, we apparently will not make a record attempt this week, since we need to thoroughly study the conditions and configure the car. It’s all about security, especially at the Flugplatz corner, ”Musk wrote. The Flugplatz section, known for its dangerous springboard, got its name from the glider airfield, which was previously located in that area.
The head of Tesla announced his intention to set the Northern Loop record among four-door electric cars after the best time in this category was shown by the recently introduced Porsche Taycan. The German electric car covered a 20.6-kilometer track in 7 minutes and 42 seconds.
Taycan was introduced on September 4 at special events held in Canada, Germany and China. The novelty was equipped with two electric motors (on the front and rear axles), which provide four-wheel drive and are combined with a special dual-band gearbox. At the time of launch, the Porsche Taycan is presented in two top versions – Turbo and Turbo S. The units of the latter, when the Launch Control quick start function is activated in Overboost mode, give out 761 horsepower (560 kilowatts).
