Electro-crossover Fisker Ocean will receive the Volkswagen platformJuly 15, 2020
On this platform electric cars Volkswagen ID.3 and ID.4 are based. With it, Fisker expects to reduce costs.
The first electric crossover from Fisker, named Ocean, will be based on the Volkswagen MEB modular platform. This architecture has already been successfully tested on Volkswagen ID.3 and ID.4 electric cars, as well as the Cupra el-Born hot hatch.
Thanks to the MEB platform, the American brand plans to accelerate the market debut of the green news, as well as reduce its price. At the same time, the Americans did not abandon the development of their own chassis and batteries – they can be found on future cars of the brand.
Recall, the platform MEB allows you to install one or a couple of electric motors, as well as batteries of different capacities. At the same time, the power of the power plant can reach the mark of 306 hp. As for the power reserve, the same ID.4 electric crossover will be able to drive about 500 kilometers without recharging.
The platform is not the only thing the Americans borrowed from the Germans. Thus, it is reported that engineers from Italdesign, a member of the Volkswagen concern, worked on a prototype Fisker Ocean.
With the most favorable forecasts, the appearance of electrocross from Fisker can be expected for next year.
Meanwhile, during the road tests, the updated MINI Cooper SE was seen. Auto gets a revised exterior, but the engine range is likely to remain unchanged.
