Electric Volvo XC40 will be equipped with a new multimedia systemOctober 9, 2019
Swedish Volvo will install an Android-based multimedia system with Google’s integrated technology in its new XC40 electric crossover.
The Volvo Car Group is the first automaker to integrate the Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play Store with the Android multimedia system, along with Google. The XC40 electric model will be the debut car of the Swedish brand, which will receive software and OS updates via a wireless system, which puts Volvo Cars in the forefront of auto services.
One of the main features of Android Automotive OS is that this Android OS, which many developers are familiar with, is specially designed to function in a car. The technologies and services created by the developers of Google and Volvo Cars are integrated into the car, and additional music and multimedia applications optimized and adapted for cars will be available on Google Play.
Google Assistant will allow users to control the functions of the car using only voice. Such integration makes it possible for the driver not to be distracted from the road, keep his hands on the steering wheel and look at the road.
In addition, it recently became known that the Volvo XC40 electric crossover will be equipped with a boot under the hood.
