Electric Road Rover may appear by the end of 2021March 23, 2020
British automaker Jaguar Land Rover is preparing a new model, which goes on sale under the new brand Road Rover. In the history of the brand, this name already surfaced in the 50-60s.
Jaguar plans to return the flagship XJ model as an all-electric sedan. This “green” novelty will share the platform with another model – Road Rover. Little is known about this electric novelty: experts continue to speculate even over the type of its body. The only thing that is known today about the new electric car is its purpose. The Road Rover will be more adapted to urban driving conditions than off-road. Most likely, the British will offer buyers a crossover, though with a slightly lower clearance and a less bulky body. This opinion is shared by the British edition of Autocar.
The new original form diversifies the range of Jaguar Land Rover, which today has enough crossovers and SUVs. According to forecasts by auto experts, the novelty will receive two electric motors – one for each axis.
The “hundred” new electric car will gain in less than five seconds, and without recharging it will cover a distance of up to 500 kilometers. In the future, other models may enter the market under the Road Rover brand. What kind of cars they will be has not yet been announced.
In general, all three cars planned for 2021 (XJ, J-Pace and Road Rover) will be based on the new MLA platform, which supports different power plants.
