Compact car Opel Corsa next generation will receive a version with a fully electric power plant. This is reported by the press service of the German brand.
The new Opel Corsa, based on the expected future platform of the next Peugeot 208, will appear in 2019, and its electric modification will debut a year later. Release of the novelties will be adjusted at the enterprise in the Spanish Zaragoza. Corsa will be the fourth joint project between Opel and the French Groupe PSA, which includes Peugeot and Citroen.
In the fall of 2017, Opel unveiled a plan for its further development called PACE!, which provides for a return to profit by 2020, the unification of platforms and engines, as well as a massive shift to hybrid and electric power plants.
By 2024, Opel plans to become the “green automaker N1 in Europe.” As part of this strategy, the Germans are going to create eco-modifications of each of their passenger models, and increase funding for development programs for hybrid, electric and hydrogen vehicles. By 2020, there will be at least four new green cars in the Opel lineup, including the hybrid version of the Grandland X crossover and the electric Corsa.
