Electric Kia Niro EV: all the details are revealed

At the local motor show in Korean Busan, a full-fledged premiere of the electric version of the crossover Kia Niro was held. Before that, the car had already been shown at a specialized exhibition in Jeju, but now the Koreans revealed all the technical details and showed the interior of the electric vehicle.

Crossover Kia Niro c hybrid powerplant appeared two years ago, now it will have a fully electric version.

The only electric motor with a power of 204 horsepower is driven only by the front wheels. Its maximum torque is 395 Nm. The crossover is capable of accelerating from place to 100 kilometers per hour in 7.8 seconds.

Lithium polymer battery is installed under the boot floor. Its capacity is 64 kilowatt-hour, which allows you to travel on one charge of 380 kilometers. When using a powerful 100-kilowatt charger to bring the level of charge to 80 percent can only be 54 minutes. Optionally available is a less capacious, but a cheaper battery at 39.2 kilowatt-hour: with it, the power reserve is 240 kilometers.

In size approximately corresponds to the electric crossover Volkswagen Tiguan second generation: the wheelbase is 2700 mm, the total length – 3475 mm. But the Korean car is lower by eleven centimeters – its height is 1560 millimeters. Incidentally, the luggage capacity increased as compared with the hybrid versions, and is 451 liter by VDA method (under the shelf). In conventional Niro c hybrid power plant includes a trunk 373 liters, while the hybrid rechargeable capacity even lower (324 liters).

The electric car has a wide range of electronic driver assistants: it is a hold-over system in the lane (operates at speeds up to 130 kilometers per hour), adaptive cruise control and an auto-brake system.

Externally, the electric car Niro EV differs from the hybrid modification of the navigation lights in the form of a characteristic “tick” and a trapezoidal grille at the bottom of the front bumper, and a blind panel with a hatch for recharging in place of the radiator grille.

There are also differences in the cabin: this is a soft green ornament on the upholstery of the seats and the same frames around the ventilation deflectors. But the main thing is the rotating washer of the modes of motion on the central tunnel instead of the traditional lever-selector in the hybrid.
