Electric Jeep will receive the designation “4xe”January 4, 2020
Jeep will unveil three electrified models at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. These will be rechargeable hybrids Wrangler, Renegade and Compass, combined under a common nameplate “4xe”.
The eco-friendly 4xe range will include all Jeep models with a hybrid or electric powerplant. They will retain outstanding off-road capabilities and impressive cross-country ability, but will be “much better than their gas and diesel counterparts.” In addition to caring for the environment, electrified off-road vehicles will bring more driving pleasure to the segment and “will allow you to enjoy the silence during outings”.
Brand electrification will begin with three key markets: Europe, China and the United States. After that, Jeeps for other countries will be transferred to electric traction. By 2021, each model will receive a version with a hybrid power plant, as well as a number of the latest high-tech options.
It is known that the hybrid Jeep Renegade will be equipped with a 1.3 turbo engine and several electric motors, as well as an eAWD all-wheel drive without a cardan shaft. On electric power, such an SUV will be able to drive up to 50 kilometers. A similar power plant will receive a same platform as Jeep Compass. There are no data on Wrangler PHEV yet.
