Electric Ford F-150 will receive a generator to increase the rangeOctober 1, 2020
According to patent documents, the electric version of the full-size Ford F-150 Electric pickup will be equipped with a special generator that will increase the overall range. It is disguised as a toolbox.
Last month, Ford announced a major investment of $ 700 million in its truck plant in Dearborn, USA, where the electric version of the F-150 truck will be mass-produced in 2023.
The photographs, which were filed with the U.S. Trademark and Patent Office in April 2018 and released to the public on September 15, show a device that could increase the range of an electric truck.
It is noteworthy that it is made in the form of a toolbox and is located in the cargo platform.
One of the patented sketches shows the actual layout of this device, however, there is currently no information on its technical characteristics. The patent specification only says that “engine performance is design dependent and can be selected to provide the desired electrical power output.”
Earlier, there were rumors that the electric F-150’s range could be extended by using a 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine that develops 125 horsepower. As far as we know, the electric version of the full-size truck will be the most powerful and fastest F-150 to date.
Not so long ago, AutoTimesNews wrote that the Nissan Frontier (Navara) and Titan pickups will receive off-road versions from Nismo. In the near future, Japanese trucks Nissan Frontier (Navara), Titan and Xterra can be ordered in more off-road versions from the sports division Nissan Nismo. The new line of “off-road parts” will officially debut at the 2020 Frontier.
