Electric Audi will be charged in 12 minutesSeptember 27, 2018
By 2020, the company will create batteries with charge support capacity of 350 kilowatts
Electric models Audi can be charged up to 80 percent in 12 minutes. It will not happen until 2020, when a new type of battery with support for 350-kilowatt charging stations will appear.
The first car with support for charging capacity of 350 kilowatts will be a four-door grand tourer e-tron GT. Also, Porsche Taycan will be able to connect to such columns: in 15 minutes it will be able to increase the power reserve by 400 kilometers.
Recently introduced Audi e-tron is able to connect to 150-kilowatt charging stations and replenish the energy reserve to 80 percent for half an hour. Such columns are part of the Ionity network, which is being deployed in Europe by a consortium of manufacturers of the BMW Group, Daimler AG, Volkswagen Group and Ford. In total, by 2020, it is planned to open 400 charging stations with a capacity of 350 kilowatts.
Audi e-tron is equipped with two asynchronous electric motors (one on each axis) with a total power of 360 horsepower and 561 Nm of torque. The power reserve of the crossover for the WLTP cycle is 400 kilometers. A battery with a capacity of 95 kilowatt-hours is charged from a base charger with a capacity of 11 kilowatts for 8.5 hours.
