This year, the competition for the title of the best engine has been held for the 20th time.

If this continues, then soon the interest in the International Engine of the Year will be lost. This year, as in the past, and the year before, the absolute victory went to the 3.9-liter Ferrari F154 V8, which includes mid-engine supercars of the Ferrari 488. Its output is 670-720 hp.

More interesting, usually, is the nomination with new motors debuting in last year’s cars. It also won the engine of the Italian brand – atmospheric Ferrari F140 GA V12 in volume of 6,5 liters capacity of 800 hp, installed on model 812 Superfast. By the way, he also took third place in the main nomination Engine of the Year.

On the second place among the “newcomers” is located the product of BMW engineers – the modernized V-shaped 600-strong “biturbovo-watch” of 4.4 liters installed on the “charged” M5 sedan. The three-seater “six” Mercedes-Benz M256 with a volume of 3.0 liters closes the triple, developing power of 367 hp and combined with a 48-volt starter-generator. So far only CLS and S-Class have been equipped with this engine, but in the future the manufacturer intends to install it on other models.
