Dzekki: In Renault, they risk if they sign a contract with AlonsoMay 31, 2020
Andrea Dzekki, a former team manager for Ferrari (who worked in this position from 1989 to 1992), who subsequently pursued a career in Daniel Riccardo, believes that Renault is at great risk if they decide to invite Fernando Alonso again. He believes that riots may begin in the factories of the French company, because recently the management of the concern announced a reduction of 15 thousand jobs.
“If you fire people, but spend a lot of money signing a contract with Alonso, then you run the risk, it can cause a revolution,” said Dzekki in an interview with L’Equipe. “But if Renault presents a well-thought-out economic plan, insisting that the concern seeks to more actively promote its brand, produce electric cars, and a person like Alonso will become the new face of the brand, then it may be easier to agree.”
On Friday, the leadership of the French concern announced a course to reduce costs, and among other measures, it is planned to reduce almost 15 thousand jobs at enterprises located in different countries of the world. The program is designed for the next three years, for which it will be necessary to cut costs by 2 billion euros, but Renault does not plan to refuse to participate in Formula 1.
