“Dying” crossover Kia KX3 will be released in electroversionJuly 19, 2018
South Korean automaker Kia is trying to save the model KX3. The compact crossover, which appeared on the market in 2015 as a recycled Hyundai ix25, began to enjoy less demand. In fact, at the moment the machine no one wants to buy.
A year after the publication in the Chinese car market, the crossover experienced an early restyling, after which it sold in a circulation of 68,913 copies. But already in 2017 motorists became seven times less interested in this car. Sales fell to a mark of 10 027 units.
From January to May this year, dealers were able to sell only 977 copies of this model. To date, Kia KX3 in the virtual showcase of the automaker is not represented.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of China has certified a purely electric version.
To save the KX3, Kia’s management decided to remake the crossover into a fully electric one. According to unofficial information, the power of the electric motor is 81 kW (110 horsepower), and the battery capacity is 45 kWh. So far there is no known power reserve. The electric car can develop a maximum speed of up to 150 kilometers per hour.
Auto experts believe that the presentation of the updated version of the “dying” Kia KX3 will take place on August 31 at the auto show in Chengdu. In the event of a failure and with the Kia KX3 EV, the model will be discontinued.
