Ducati unveils a new electric bike for every occasionAugust 8, 2020
Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati has launched a new electric bike in collaboration with Thok. Buyers are offered premium components packaged in a stylish design and promise that the e-Scrambler will perform well on city streets and on forest roads.
The e-Scrambler electric bike was created with the help of Thok engineers who already have experience in the development of electric touring bicycles. It features a 250W Shimano Steps E700 motor and 60Nm of torque, a 504Wh Shimano battery, a Suntour XCR34 fork and a range of tube thicknesses.
The e-Scrambler has 27.5-inch wheels, 2.35-inch Pirelli Cycl-e tires, 11-speed SRAM NX drivetrain and disc brakes with 203mm rotors, writes New Atlas.
Actually, the engineers of the Italian company have developed only the ergonomic handlebars, saddle, fenders, trunk, footrest and taillights and headlights that are included in the basic kit.
This is not the first example of Ducati’s collaboration with Thok – the MIG-RR electric mountain bike was unveiled at the 2018 Milan Auto Show. The two-hangers, to which the new model belongs, is the pinnacle of bicycle development, and is used for quick descent from hills – downhill. In this case, the electric motor allows you to climb higher than on traditional bicycles.
The E-Scrambler has four frame sizes and only one color – black and yellow. Prices start at € 3699.
At the beginning of last year, the company announced its intention to go into electrification and motorcycles, the main pride of Ducati. CEO Claudio Domenicali has confirmed the development of the brand’s first all-electric motorcycle for the mass market.
