DS will bring to the Paris Motor Show an electric crossoverMay 22, 2018
The French will release a compact crossover DS3 Crossback, which will be offered both with traditional units, and with a fully electric power plant
The DS brand, part of the French PSA alliance, will present its first electric crossover in the fall of 2018 at the Paris Motor Show. This is reported by the publication Auto Express.
According to preliminary data, the novelty will be called DS3 Crossback and will be offered both with traditional units, and with a fully electric power plant. The electric car will be based on the modular platform e-CMP, which will also be built “green” models of companies Peugeot and Citroen. So, in 2019 this same chassis will become the base for electrical modifications of Peugeot 208 and Opel Corsa of the new generation.
The release of the new crossover will be an important step in the new brand strategy DS, according to which the French after 2025 should begin to sell only hybrids and electric cars. The “green” version of DS3 Crossback will compete with Hyundai Kona EV.
Earlier, the DS brand management promised that the brand will produce at least one hybrid model each year. The latest such novelty is the crossover DS 7 Crossback. The power plant includes a gasoline engine, developing 200 hp, as well as two 80-kilowatt electric motors. In total, the aggregates produce 300 horsepower. Exclusively on electric traction the crossover is capable to pass 59 kilometers.
