Drag racing: Porsche vs Lamborghini and FerrariNovember 15, 2020
A new video, posted on Carwow’s YouTube channel, shows the race in a straight line between a Porsche 911 Turbo S, Ferrari 488 Pista and Lamborghini Huracán Performante in Spyder version.
The latest Porsche 911 Turbo S, with a 3.4-liter engine producing 650 horsepower (800 Nm), and a Ferrari 488 Pista with a 3.9-liter V8 engine producing 720 hp, are participating in today’s race. (770 Nm), which weighs slightly less than the German coupe. They compete with a Lamborghini roadster with a 5.2-liter V10 engine with 640 hp. (600 Nm). Meanwhile, the Lamborghini has the same all-wheel drive as the Porsche, but slightly less power.
From the first run, you can see that the German 911 coupe remains unbeatable over a quarter mile or 402 meters.
The driver of the Porsche 911 Turbo S has said on several occasions that Porsche’s launch control system, combined with the PDK robotic transmission, is “a force to be reckoned with in these races.” However, we have no doubt that the result might have been different over a slightly longer distance.
Lamborghini and Ferrari were unable to cope with the German coupe from a standstill. When the race began not from a place, but with a certain speed, the car from Ferrari immediately took the lead. The next test, a braking test, showed that the prancing horse’s massive carbon-ceramic brakes provided a slight edge over the Porsche, which weighs 1,640 kg compared to the 1,385 kg Ferrari. Lamborghini’s Italian Roadster weighs 1,507 kg
Not so long ago, our publication wrote that McLaren 720S and Ferrari 488 GTB “sorted out the relationship” on the drag (+ video). Two powerful sports cars met on the track in order to decide once and for all which of them is faster. It is noteworthy that the total power of these cars is 1,370 horsepower.
