Drag racing: Italian Ferrari F8 vs. British McLaren 720SSeptember 22, 2020
The team from the foreign YouTube channel DragTimes decided to arrange a race between the Ferrari F8 supercar and the British McLaren 720S. The race was carried out at the standard quarter mile (402 meters). Both cars have approximately the same technical characteristics.
Almost every automaker today has supercars, but few cars get the attention of speed enthusiasts as much as models from Ferrari or McLaren. A new video has appeared on the YouTube channel DragTimes, which features two supercars Ferrari F8 Tributo and McLaren 720S.
Both produce 710 horsepower and 770 Nm of torque, sending power through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission to the rear wheels.
Ferrari uses a 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, while McLaren uses a slightly larger 4.0-liter power unit. One of the few differences is their weight. The McLaren weighs 1,415 kilograms and the Ferrari 1,578 kg.
In the first race of the standard drag racing quarter mile (402 meters), the Ferrari supercar started much better than the McLaren and was able to maintain its lead. Ferrari completed the first race in 10.445 seconds at 219.38 km / h. McLaren finished right behind him with a result of 10.469 seconds – its speed was 223 km / h. There were several races and in all of them Ferrari wins with an accuracy of tenths of a second.
The McLaren 720S is a 2018 supercar, although it was supposed to outperform the 2020 Ferrari, which is a few pounds heavier. They have the same characteristics, so such a race depends on the skills of the drivers sitting at the wheel.
Not so long ago, AutoTimesNews wrote that the tuned Audi RS3 fought the BMW M2 CS and Mercedes-AMG A45 S in drag racing. A team of enthusiasts from the YouTube channel carwow decided to test whether the upgraded version of the Audi RS3, thanks to its additional power, can overtake the BMW M2 CS and Mercedes-AMG A45 S in a straight line race.
