Drag racing: Chevy Corvette C8 vs. luxury Rolls-Royce Wraith

A video has been posted on the Hennessey Performance Youtube channel showing the race of two powerful coupes. One is the sporty C8 generation Chevy Corvette and the other is the luxurious Rolls-Royce Wraith. In fact, these are different cars with the same body type.

Despite this year’s adversity, demand for the American sports coupe, the Chevy Corvette C8, has increased every month, making it one of the most popular in 2020. Production of the 2021 version of the Chevy Corvette is on the way. And we were even shown a coupe with a new body color Red Mist (pictured).

As part of their recent video, renowned tuning company Hennessey Performance captured a straight-line race featuring a Chevy Corvette C8 as well as the British luxury coupe Rolls-Royce Wraith.

It must be said that this is a bit of an odd choice of candidates – both of them are coupes and have two doors, but that is where the similarities end. One is a mid-engined sports car designed to conquer the racetrack, while the other is a powerful executive car.

But then again, why not? Hennessey said the race is for “much needed comparative testing.” For some quick reference, the Vette is pretty much standard here, with the exception of the slightly more powerful Hennessey exhaust system. As for the Rolls-Royce Wraith, it is definitely more powerful than the Corvette with its twin-turbo V12 that develops 623 horsepower and 870 Nm of torque.

Again, these two cars are really quite different from each other, but which one is faster?

Not so long ago, AutoTimesNews wrote about the race between the Porsche 911 Turbo S and the McLaren 600LT. A video has been posted on the Carfection YouTube channel showing the race between the 992 generation German Porsche 911 Turbo S sports coupe and the British McLaren 600LT. The engines of both cars offer 619 Nm of torque.
