Drag racing: BMW M340i vs. Audi S4 and Mercedes-AMG C43November 3, 2020
The foreign Throttle House team from the YouTube channel of the same name decided to find out which German sports sedan is the fastest. The race involves BMW M340i, Audi S4 and Mercedes-AMG C43.
BMW, Mercedes and Audi have been competing against each other for years trying to create the fastest and most powerful sports sedan. A new video from the Throttle House YouTube channel captures a straight-line race in which the BMW M340i, Audi S4 and Mercedes-AMG C43 2020 are taking part. This became known a couple of minutes ago from the foreign edition of Motor1.com.
All three cars are equipped with six-cylinder turbocharged and four-wheel drive engines, but they have different power levels.
The C43 is the most productive car, producing 385 horsepower (520 Nm). The sedan from BMW boasts 382bhp. power and 500 Nm of torque. The engine of the third contender for victory – the “charged” sedan Audi S4, can produce 354 hp. (500 Nm). In addition, BMW and Audi vehicles have a Launch Control function that provides a faster start, while Mercedes does not.
To compensate for AMG’s lack of launch control, the Throttle House team conducted several races on the cars: two standstill starts, one with launch control and one without control, and a race at speed. While Mercedes is more powerful, BMW finishes by a significant margin in all trail races. Audi actually ranks second in the first race, barely beating Mercedes-Benz. However, Audi ranks third in the other two, although not much to lose. Mercedes finishes with a small lead over Audi.
The results are a good reminder that performance is not always a guarantee of winning any speed event. The Audi’s throttle lag does not help it off the assembly line, while Mercedes’ lack of launch control prevents its spectacular start. BMW outperforms both cars in power, which helped it to win all three victories.
