The creator of “Gymkhana” did not leave a single chance to the British supercar

The famous American race car driver and creator of the Jimkhana drift project, Ken Block, published the first episode of the series titled “Hoonicorn vs The World” on his Youtube channel. In the new show, the athlete will compete in drag racing with various world supercars in his modified Ford Mustang Hoonicorn. The first rival of the American was the McLaren Senna carbon coupe.

The four-wheel drive Ford Mustang Hoonicorn was built specifically for the Jimkhana project. Initially, the modified muscle car weighing 1360 kilograms was created for drifting, not for drag racing. The Hoonicorn is equipped with a 6.7-liter V8 with twin Garrett turbos. These motors are installed in cars participating in the NASCAR series. The engine output is 1400 horsepower. A sequential gearbox works in tandem with the unit. Ken Block keeps the dynamic characteristics of the unique “Mustang” a secret.

The mass of the carbon-fiber McLaren Senna is 1198 kilograms. Under the hood of the supercar is installed an 800-horsepower four-liter V8 with twin turbocharging, which is paired with a seven-speed “robot”. The rear-wheel drive coupe accelerates to “hundreds” in 2.8 seconds. McLaren overcomes the 200 kilometers per hour mark in 6.8 seconds. The maximum speed is 340 kilometers per hour.

As part of the quarter mile races, the athletes made three races. In the first attempt, the Ford Mustang left no chance for the British coupe, beating McLaren by more than four bodies. In the second race, Ken Block started late, but that didn’t stop Hoonicorn from getting ahead of the carbon supercar at the finish line. In the final race, the creator of “Gymkhana” decided to give the opponent a two-body odds, placing his “Mustang” behind the British supercar. But even such an advantage at the start did not allow McLaren Senna to escape defeat.

Last week, bloggers on the YouTube channel carwow staged a drag race between the new Porsche 911 Turbo S, the Ferrari 488 Pista special edition and the Lamborghini Huracan Performante spider. The series of races included races from a standstill to 402 meters, “on the fly” starts in different modes, and measuring the effectiveness of the brakes at a speed of 113 kilometers per hour.
