Domanig added to Mercedes-AMG GT R almost 200 hpMarch 13, 2018
Firm Domanig Autodesign has presented the new project GTR, based on the top version of sports coupe – Mercedes-AMG GT R. Development was carried out together with other tuning studio – IMSA. First of all, the tuners replaced the stock turbochargers of the four-liter V8 M178 engine for larger ones, upgraded the exhaust system, installed a sports air filter and an additional radiator.
The modifications made by the specialists led to an increase in the output of the biturbo, which in the factory version gives out on the Mercedes-AMG GT R 577 hp and 700 Nm, up to 769 hp and 960 Nm of torque. To achieve such indicators, changes were made to the control electronics of the engine and transmission, so that the latter could cope with a significantly increased thrust.
Forced tuners sports car is able to accelerate from place to the first “hundred” in 2.9 seconds, which is 0.7 seconds faster than the standard version. In addition, the revised GT R accelerates at 200 km / h in 8.8 seconds, and the “maximum” now is not 318, but 330 km / h.
In addition to upgrading the engine, Domanig Autodesign engineers completed the AMG GT R with the KW suspension lowering kit, with which the vehicle’s ground clearance was reduced by approximately 30 mm, and the suspension lifting system allows the machine to be raised approximately to the same height. The final touch was a set of five-spoke wheels from Domanig – 20-inch front and 21-inch rear, shod in rubber Michelin Super Sport.
