Dodge has expanded its range of law enforcement vehicles and introduced a “interceptor” police officer based on a Durango SUV. The decision to build the car was taken after unofficial testing at the Police Department of Michigan State.

Police Dodge Durango Pursuit is equipped with a 5.7-liter V8 HEMI engine (365 forces and 529 Nm of torque), a constant full drive, an eight-speed automatic transmission, a two-stage gearbox and reinforced brake mechanisms.

The standard equipment of the SUV includes a heavy-duty water pump and an oil cooler, a three-zone climate control, a rear-view camera, and an eight-way driver’s electric steering wheel.

In addition to Durango, the Dodge lineup has a Charger Police Sedan. In November 2016, the Michigan Police Department tested various service cars and found that the Dodge Charger Pursuit had the best brake performance among all General Motors, Ford and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles corporate cars: to stop at 96 kilometers an hour it needed 37,5 meters.
