It so happened that fans of Ford and Chevy cars have a rather long list of jokes that they can use to ridicule owners of Dodge cars; these jokes are usually centered around permanent breakdowns. Apparently, a new one will soon be added to them – their cars have a built-in money transfer button for repairs.
Another problem with cars of the American Dodge brand is a malfunction of the gearbox. The fact is that the transition beyond the red line of the tachometer from the second gear to the third one can actually activate the first gear.
This malfunction can adversely affect the performance of the engine, and as an option, lead to the need to repair it, and this is not always cheap.
A video has appeared on the YouTube channel R / T Life that demonstrates this problem. You may be surprised how you can shift gears automatically. Shift paddles make everything fairly simple, and many automatic transmissions have software that prevents the engine from switching to higher revs above a certain number of revolutions per minute.
The problem with the Dodge Charger, Challenger and Chrysler 300 is that for any reason, shifting to a higher gear, it is reduced. The driver of the car on the video even tried to equip his car with other shift paddles, but it did not give a result.
As we can see from the video, the problem seems to be more common at higher revs (we also get a good, close look at the steering wheel cover with an automatic driver zone). Throughout the video, it is mentioned that many owners of the above vehicles encounter such a problem.
