Canadian filer Bill McChern has been the owner of the Porsche 911 Turbo (930) in Midnight Blue for over 44 years. He drives a sports car almost every day: currently his mileage is 779 thousand miles (over 1.25 million km).

“I grew up among the muscle cars,” says McChern, a Canadian of Scottish descent. – In my youth, I had Oldsmobile 4-4-2. He was well suited for trips around the city and rides from traffic lights, however, it was controlled like a milk tanker. ”

In 1970, McChern for the first time drove a 911 T, and he was struck by the balance of a sports car, which, despite its small dimensions, was very comfortable.

After McChern set up his carpet cleaning company, he acquired the corporate Porsche 911 and then spotted the Turbo version of the 911 930 series. In the fall of 1975, at the height of the oil crisis, he ordered a Midnight Blue shaded car that had brown leather interior, sports seats and limited slip differential. He received this car directly from Germany in May 1976.

McChern drives a Porsche almost daily. Over the entire period he had a couple of minor breakdowns: for example, the fan pulley fell apart, and an accident with a crossover occurred, as a result of which the car received damage to the axle shaft and the suspension arm.

At the moment, 779,000 miles (1,253,584 km) are indicated on the odometer, but this is still McChern’s favorite car, which he couldn’t even exchange for a modern supercar.

In addition, recently appeared on the Internet pictures of the new Porsche 911 Turbo S. The official show of the model will be held at the Geneva auto show in early March.
