Details appeared on the third crossover premium brand GenesisJanuary 27, 2020
As part of their recent interview with relevant publications, brand representatives spoke about future crossover news. It is reported that the third crossover of the South Korean automaker Genesis will be fully electric and mid-size.
The luxury division of South Korean automaker Hyundai – Genesis, has big plans for the coming years. Being set up as an independent brand in November 2015, the company produces compact and full-size premium sedans that compete with prestigious European brands. The Genesis range now consists of the G70, G80 and G90 sedans.
But, as we all know, the brand can no longer remain “in the game” without the now popular SUVs and crossovers.
Genesis representatives shared some news about their upcoming plans for the future with reporters from foreign specialized media. In the near future, the automaker’s lineup will be replenished with larger models.
The company recently introduced the mid-size crossover GV80, which will go on sale as a novelty in the 2021 model year – this will happen in the second half of this year. The car is built on the platform of the G80 sedan and will be offered in both rear and all-wheel drive. This is the first crossover in the history of the brand.
There is news about the compact crossover GV70, which is expected to be shown this year, but all we know is that it will use the G70 sedan platform and will be rear-wheel drive. The guys from Genesis also said that the third SUV of the brand was confirmed for production, and an important point is that it will be electrified and will be based on a specially built platform. The presentation is scheduled for next year.
Not so long ago, we wrote that Genesis officially unveiled its first Genesis GV80 crossover. While the novelty is available only in the home market, however, over time, the geography of sales of the GV80 will expand.
