The car will be built on the MQB platform and will make it look like the A3 and Q2. Novelty will be bigger and safer than its predecessor
In the network, the images of the new generation hatchback A1 flowed. Pictures of the car laid out the Belgian edition Autotijd. Judging by them, the design of the car will resemble the A3. In this case, the grille pattern and the shape of the lower air intakes are almost the same as those of the Q2 crossover.
Also, the car will receive LED lights, adaptive cruise control and wireless charging. In the saloon of the hatchback a new instrument panel with a touch screen will appear. Previously, the company promised that the screen can be written with your finger. Most likely, this way you can set the system some tasks. In addition, the driver will be available advanced security systems.
The car will be built on the platform MQB, it already built Skoda Fabia, Seat Ibiza and VW Polo. Thanks to this, the car will surpass the size of its predecessor, which at the moment is the smallest car in the model range of the German brand. According to preliminary data, in length the new A1 will grow to 4040 m (+65 mm). The increase in width will be 20 mm, and in the distance between the axes – 90 mm. Thus the volume of a luggage carrier will increase on 70 l, to 350 liters.
The hatchback will be made of steel and aluminum. However, due to the increase in length, the novelty is unlikely to be easier with the previous A1, whose weight is 1,035 kilograms.
According to unofficial data, the motor scale of the car will include a 1.0-liter gasoline engine with three cylinders. The engine’s power of the unit will be about 95 horsepower. Also expected the appearance of a 1.4-liter gasoline engine and a 1.6-liter diesel engine. The appearance of hybrid and all-electric modifications of the hatchback is not ruled out.
