Denza introduced concept electric crossover Concept XJune 3, 2019
Not much is known about the upcoming electric crossover of the Sino-German brand Denza, except for the fact that it will also be offered as a plug-in hybrid version. Start of serial production of the model is expected next year.
The exclusive Chinese brand Denza was founded in 2012 by the German concern Daimler and the Chinese company BYD specifically for the production of electric vehicles. However, so far the only Denza product was an electric car based on the previous Mercedes-Benz B-class. Sold under various names from the very beginning, Denza EV was not a particularly successful product, especially in recent years.
For example, sales of this car fell in 2018 by 60%, and a total of 1,974 copies of this car were sold. For a huge market like China, this means almost nothing. Does this mean that the Denza brand is on the verge of extinction?
Not really, since the Chinese company has just introduced a new concept car, which is the brand’s first crossover. Denza Concept X debuted at the Shenzhen auto show with a design that the guys from Mercedes-Benz helped create, and we have to say that it is much more attractive than their old model EV.
In fact, we would dare to say that it looks better than a Mercedes electric crossover. At the moment, the Concept X is just a model without a chassis and a cabin, but it is easy to imagine that it will receive the same electrical power plant as the German EQC – or at least some of its parts. Denza said that the serial model can overcome up to 500 km without recharging and accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in less than 5 seconds. These figures are similar to the range and acceleration time of the Mercedes-Benz EQC.
