Demonstrated a prototype Acura MDXOctober 15, 2020
Acura has unveiled the MDX prototype, which heralds a production model.
The concept features a larger diamond-shaped radiator grille and a longer hood, as well as four-piece JewelEye LED headlights.
The MDX prototype, which is lower, longer and wider than the previous model, has received 21-inch wheels. As for the interior of the concept, there are leather Milano seats and Acura’s signature cockpit, consisting of two 12.3-inch screens, one of which acts as a dashboard, and the other as an infotainment complex. In addition, high quality materials have been used in the interior decoration, including aluminum accents.
Other improvements include increased headroom for the first and third rows of seats, and a large panoramic sunroof. In turn, the front seats are electrically adjustable and have a massage function. Note that the standard Acura MDX will receive a new 3.5-liter V6 engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, while the performance of this unit has not yet been disclosed. The current MDX develops 290 hp. with a V6 engine. The “charged” MDX Type S will be equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 turbo engine with 355 hp. (480 Nm), working in conjunction with the all-wheel drive SH-AWD.
The presentation of the production version of the Acura MDX should take place before the end of this year. And sales of new items will start at the beginning of 2021.
In addition, it was recently noted that Acura plans to become a sports brand. So, the head of the Acura brand, John Ikeda, said that the company plans to demonstrate a productive variation of the Type S for the entire model line.
