DeLorean from “Back to the Future” fights miniature Tesla Cybertruck in dragNovember 19, 2020
For a copy of Elon Musk’s pickup truck, the race ended in breakdown
Canadian bloggers have posted a video of an unusual drag race on their Youtube channel. The rivals were the famous DeLorean DMC-12 from the series of films “Back to the Future” and a replica of the Tesla Cybertruck pickup, made on a scale of 1:2.
The Canadian copy of the Elon Musk pickup truck, with the exception of dimensions, externally completely repeats the original Cybertruck. The pickup, about waist-high for an adult, has a similar angular stainless steel body design, the same LED running lights and a folding cargo platform. The replica salon can be accessed through the glass roof and can only accommodate one person. The traditional steering wheel and pedals are available to the driver as controls, as well as a multimedia screen, which displays information about the state of the power plant.
The miniature Cybertruck is powered by three electric motors located on the front and rear axles. According to the creators of the replica, the total torque of the “mini-Tesla” is 850 Nm. Other dynamic characteristics of the electric pickup are unknown. Its creation cost the engineers $ 50,143. As an opponent of the miniature Tesla, bloggers put the famous DeLorean DMC-12, which is owned by one of them. The coupe is equipped with a 2.9-liter V6 with 150 horsepower.
At the start of the race, Tesla Cybertruck managed to get ahead for a split second, but the miniature pickup immediately lost ground and stayed far behind the DeLorean. After the end of the race, bloggers found out that the reason for such an unsuccessful performance of the Tesla copy was a failed electric motor. However, despite the fact that the specialists managed to fix it right on the track, the Canadians did not arrange a second race.
At the end of February, bloggers on The Hacksmith Youtube channel put up a replica of a Tesla Cybertruck electric pickup in a tug-of-war against the Ford F-150. Despite the huge difference in dimensions, the Canadian copy made serious competition for the American pickup.
