Deliveries of the revived Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato have begunNovember 9, 2019
Jubilee Aston Martin DBZ collection, consisting of one of the most expensive cars in the world – DBS GT Zagato and DB4 GT Zagato Continuation – is sold for 6 million pounds
On November 7, Aston Martin announced that the first of 19 DB4s began shipping to customers around the world. This means that at least part of humanity will soon be able to admire the unusual cars on the local routes on which they will begin to appear.
“It was an honor and pleasure for us to work with Zagato to create these great sports cars. Now, having fallen into the hands of a tiny group of owners around the world, I’m sure that they, like me, will be honored to play their part in the history of this great brand, ”said Andy Palmer, CEO of Aston Martin Lagonda.
Each of the 19 cars is hand-made, and 30 Aston engineers need about 4,500 working hours to assemble just one. This means that if only one person worked on them, then it would take almost ten years of work to complete the series.
The first finished DB4 was shown in public this summer, in Le Mans. It is equipped with a 4.7-liter engine, unlike the 3.7-liter presented in the original, and develops power of more than 390 hp. All of them are sent to the rear wheels using a four-speed manual transmission associated with a limited slip differential.
The attempt to revive the DB4 is far from the first. Back in 2017, Aston released a limited series of 25 cars called the DB4 GT Continuation. A year later, it was decided to make a new version, which was supposed to be a “completely authentic” allusion to the original DB4 GT made in the 1960s. A pair of DB4 and DBS GT Zagato will go into production next year.
