The German car brand Mercedes does not need to be presented and advertised, since this car brand has long become the standard of reliability and comfort.

The diesel scandal forced the German auto designers to focus on the creation of environmentally friendly cars. The autobuilders are well aware that in a few years the fate of diesel engines will be repeated by gasoline engines. In addition to the development of electric cars, Mercedes specialists were engaged in the creation of hybrid car models and now they can boast of a new compact crossover with a hybrid power plant, which consists of a hydrogen engine and an electric motor.

The first crossovers have already replenished the fleets of national and regional ministries of Germany, as well as some large companies, such as the German railways Air Liquide, Linde AG and others, have received cars. In the free sale of the car will appear in the spring of 2019.

The new Mercedes GLC F-Cell is equipped with a unique hybrid powerplant that does not pollute the environment at all. Water vapor comes out of the exhaust pipe of such a motor. Under the crossover floor are two carbon fiber cylinders, which can contain up to 4.4 liters of hydrogen. At one refueling, the car is able to cover 430 kilometers, and in a hybrid mode, the car will be able to drive 498 kilometers. The lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 13.5 kW / h drives an electric motor with a power of 208 horses. It takes 1.5 hours to fully charge the battery. Hydrogen refueling is possible only at a specialized hydrogen fuel station.

In addition to the hybrid mode, the crossover can also work in three more modes:

  • F-Cell, when only the hydrogen engine is involved;
  • Rechargeable when the car runs on battery only;
  • Charge when charging the battery is a priority.

The new Mercedes GLC F-Cell is available only in major German cities such as Berlin, Munich, Düsseldorf, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Cologne. Company customers can rent a GLC fuel cell plugin on a long-term as well as a short-term basis.
