Skoda has unveiled the all-new 2021 Fabia. The fourth generation subcompact hatchback on the MQB A0 Volkswagen Polo platform received power units up to 147 hp, a large infotainment screen, advanced driver assistance technology at a starting price of 14,000 euros

Fabia’s new design is what catches the eye first. But what’s under the skin has seen the biggest changes in the 2021 Fabia. Skoda has previously revealed its plans for power. A number of modern engines have become available thanks to the new platform.

Most Fabias will have only three cylinders and an engine displacement of just 1.0 liters. Naturally aspirated engines with lower trim will have power ratings from 64 to 79 hp. via a five-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive.

Higher trim models, meanwhile, will be powered by a turbocharged version of the 94 to 109 bhp engine. For them, you can choose a 5-speed manual or 6-speed DSG gearbox. Top-end models will receive a 1.5-liter engine with 147 hp. in conjunction with a 7-speed DSG gearbox. Diesel fuel will not be offered.

The variant with 5MKPP in models with a more affordable price should delight fans of the brand, as well as the traditional handbrake with a lever.

Another driver assistant will be the Travel Assist Package, which adds automated driving aids to the subcompact hatchback. In addition to intelligent cruise control, lane keeping assist, traffic jam assist and emergency assistance, the new Fabia will also be able to park on its own.

The novelty will acquire large infotainment screens. Like the new Polo, the Fabia will get a standard 6.8-inch touchscreen, but buyers can opt for a 9.2-inch screen. There are on-screen buttons on both sides of the screen. A 10.2-inch panel with digital gauges will be available to help the Fabia look more modern on the inside.

All of these improvements are aided by the MQB A0 platform, which hosts the Fabia versions. But the biggest benefit will be the extra size that the platform offers. It is 110 mm longer and 48 mm wider than the third generation car: 4,107 mm long and 1,780 mm wide.

The wheelbase has also increased by 94mm, making it identical in size to the new VW Polo and Seat Ibiza. This also means that the boot has increased by 380 liters and the weight has increased slightly. Thanks to its trendy new design, it has a Cd of 0.28, the lowest in the subcompact segment.
