David Coulthard: In the W Series, we are looking for our HamiltonAugust 22, 2019
In August, the first season of the W Series women’s championship ended, in which Jamie Chadwick won the title. Former Formula 1 racer David Coulthard, head of the expert council of the series, said that the organizers are looking not just for the pilots who can compete in Formula 1, but for the pilots who can compete with Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen and Charles Leclair on equal terms.
David Coulthard: “In the W Series, we pay great attention to finding talent among girls. I believe that we already have several pilots who are able to perform in Formula 1.
The question is who are we looking for – those who are just capable of speaking, or are we looking for Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen and Charles Leclair among them? We are looking for female equivalents of all these riders, because if you are not good enough like Lewis, Max and Charles, you can not beat them on the track.
Personally, with the help of the W Series I want to attract more women to motorsport. My sister chased and was good enough, but did not get support, because the family supported me. I regret it and want to help those who have talent, I want to attract more women to the races. If they turn out to be good enough, they will perform in Formula 1. If they are just good, which is also great, then they will perform in touring championships, driving sports cars and in many other series. ”
