Daimler left the woman at the head of SmartJune 25, 2018
The producer of compact cars will be headed by Catherine Abt, who will replace at the end of September this year as Anette Winkler
Management Daimler named a new chapter of the brand Smart. She became Catherine Abt, who has been on the board of the concern since 1999 and previously was responsible for sales of the Mercedes-Benz brand. This is reported by the press service of the German automaker.
Abt will be replaced at the post by Anette Winkler, who headed the Smart for the last eight years. He will stay on the position of the head of the brand until September 30, 2018, and then take a leadership position in the company’s South African division.
Earlier it became known that Daimler intends to invest in the company Smart in the French Ambach 500 million euros. This amount will go to the modernization of the plant, which, among other things, will establish the production of a compact electric car Mercedes-Benz EQA. Sales of the new electric hatchback, which will be the first representative of the “green” sub-brand EQ, will start in 2020.
The novelty will be designed to compete with the BMW i3. By 2025 the family of Mercedes-Benz electric cars will include up to 10 models. It is assumed that by this time, electric cars will account for 15% to 25% of all sales of the German brand.
