Daimler CEO confirms AMG electric car developmentSeptember 13, 2019
Mercedes-AMG already offers electrified models: CLS 53, E53 and GLE E53, but now it became known about the all-electric model. The company is actively preparing for growing competition in the non-battery-powered car segment.
Like all international brands, Mercedes-Benz invests a lot of money in the development of electrified vehicles. The market dictates its own conditions, and the model line should meet the needs of customers. Now we are talking about “charged” models. The AMG division already works with several hybrids, including the CLS 53, E53 and GLE E53. But Daimler AG CEO Ola Callenius confirmed that work on a powerful electric car is already underway.
“We must understand that the cars themselves are not the most important thing. Customer desires above all. Therefore, AMG works not only on hybrids, but also with our first all-electric AMG, ” – said Callenius.
Unfortunately, the top manager did not disclose what kind of model in question. But judging by previous news, the most likely candidate is the upcoming EQS model. The prototype of which was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Meanwhile, the special Mercedes AMG GT Black Series will receive the new V8 engine. It will not be the same engine, although built on its basis. The company is preparing something unknown.
