Dacia will show the concept of the most affordable electric carFebruary 19, 2020
The French automaker announced the debut of the electric city car concept. The novelty will be presented under a subsidiary of Dacia and will be a kind of preview of “the most affordable electric city car on the market.”
Less than a week ago, Renault announced plans to launch an electric model under the Dacia subsidiary in 2021–2022. Having made its debut on March 3 at the Geneva Motor Show, the Romanian automaker will present an all-electric demonstration car that will take full advantage of more than 10 years of Group Renault’s experience in creating electric vehicles.
Although no images of the novelty were provided, we know that the concept proposed for familiarization will serve as a “global overview of the most affordable electric vehicle on the market.”
Dacia and Renault probably mean Europe, where the model is expected to turn out to be more popular than other small electric cars like the Volkswagen e-up !, SEAT Mii Electric and Skoda Citigoe iV. It will probably not be more affordable than the Renault Twizy, but from a technical point of view, the latter is a four-wheeled bicycle.
At the moment there are few details about the electric concept, but it is widely believed that an inexpensive electric car will be based on the existing Renault product, and not on a completely new model developed from scratch. Whether it will be a European copy of the Chinese Renault K-ZE (pictured) is still unknown, although this will make sense, since the miniature electric car in the People’s Republic has a very low price.
